The Afternoon Reset: Meet Soft Afternoon

7 Cups, 7 Moods Β· Wednesday Β· Rhythm

It's the middle of the day. Your inbox is still full, your to-do list isn't getting any shorter, and somehow, there's still so much left to do.

Maybe you're between meetings. Maybe you're catching up on assignments. Or maybe it's just one of those afternoons when everything seems to be happening at once.

But what if, somewhere in the middle of it all, you gave yourself a moment?

Meet Soft Afternoon, Wednesday's tea in YUE's 7 Cups, 7 Moods Weekly Tea Ritual.

Let the week soften. Ease is allowed.

Finding Your Rhythm in the Middle of It All

There's something about the middle of things.

The middle of a day, when the morning's energy begins to fade but there's still plenty ahead.

The middle of a week, when Wednesday arrives and the weekend still feels a little far away.

And the middle of a semester, when assignments, deadlines, and midterms all seem to arrive at once.

It's easy to get caught up in everything we need to do and forget to check in with ourselves.

But finding your rhythm doesn't mean having everything perfectly planned. It doesn't mean being productive every minute, either.

Sometimes, it's about knowing when to keep going, when to take a break, and when to move at your own pace.

That's the idea behind Soft Afternoon.

Not an invitation to stop everything, but a reminder that even in the middle of a busy day, there's room for a little ease.

Meet Soft Afternoon: A Little Ease in Your Day

Light, floral, and refreshing, Soft Afternoon is a jasmine green tea blend with delicate fruity notes. Especially lovely served cold, it's an easy companion for the middle of the day.

Think of a glass of tea after lunch, a few minutes by the window between classes, or a quiet break before your next meeting.

Nothing elaborate. Nothing you need to plan ahead for.

Just good tea and a moment to yourself.

Enjoy It Hot or Cold

Soft Afternoon is especially enjoyable as a cold tea, offering a refreshing change of pace during a busy afternoon.

For a simple cup, place one tea bag in approximately 250–350 ml of hot or cold drinking water and steep to taste. Cold water generally takes longer to extract flavor than hot water.

If you'd like to prepare it ahead of time, steep it in cold drinking water in a clean, covered container in the refrigerator until it reaches your preferred strength.

Enjoy it at your desk, take it outside, or share it with a friend. There's no single right way to enjoy your afternoon.

Finding Our Rhythm at Yale's Good Life Center

Recently, at one of ourΒ Tea Time gatherings at Yale's Good Life Center, we explored the theme of Rhythm over cups of Soft Afternoon.

With midterm season underway, the timing felt especially fitting.

Between classes, assignments, projects, and everything else happening around campus, we wanted to create a little space to think about a simple question:

How do we find our own rhythm in the middle of a busy day, week, or semester?

We brought Soft Afternoon to the table as an invitation to enjoy some tea, take a break, and make room for conversation.

There wasn't a perfect rhythm to discover or a right answer to find.

Just a chance to step away from the rush for a little while.

And perhaps that's what finding your rhythm can look like.

Not necessarily doing less, but making room for the moments that help you enjoy everything else a little more.

Your Afternoon, Your Way

Of course, not every afternoon looks the same.

Some days, you might have five minutes between meetings. Other days, you might have an entire afternoon to yourself.

Maybe your break is a cup of tea at your desk. Maybe it's a walk outside, a conversation with a friend, or simply sitting somewhere comfortable for a few minutes.

At YUE, we believe everyday well-being doesn't have to be complicated.

You don't need a perfect schedule, an elaborate routine, or a special occasion to enjoy a little time for yourself.

Sometimes, a good cup of tea is enough.

Let the week soften. Ease is allowed.
